This event, originally planned for April 28, has been postponed due to the current concern around COVID-19. It has been tentatively rescheduled for June 16.  Registration is temporarily closed while we monitor the outbreak status.

Women Leading in Technology (WLiT) is a program of the Minnesota High Tech Association that works to promote, educate and empower women in technology across Minnesota.

Our goal is to Connect, Educate, and Reach Back.

The WLiT program is open to both men and women interested in promoting, educating and empowering women in technology. WLiT works to provide a network for women in technology across industry, level and line of business. We believe that no one stands alone – and strive to create community through the networking and conversations at our quarterly events ($30 reg fee per event).

MHTA WLiT | Utilizing Storytelling to Engage, Motivate & Influence

Join us Tuesday, April 28, for the second of four WLiT events in 2020, Utilizing Storytelling to Engage, Motivate and Influence. Our guest speaker is Patrick Finnegan, a Certified Dale Carnegie Trainer.
  • 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. – Networking and social hour
  • 5:30 to 7 p.m. – Program
  • 7 to 7:30 p.m. – Program concludes, networking continues
Dale Carnegie wrote the book on public speaking, with techniques that turned nervous beginners into confident professionals who communicate with assuredness. Whether you’re persuading colleagues, influencing a client, energizing a team, or recommending an idea to senior leaders, an effective presentation can be the difference between your success and failure.
This session will focus on the basic components of creating the story, so our message has the intended impact on the audience. By putting ourselves in the listener’s situation and providing relevant evidence, we can appeal to the interests of the audience and ultimately deliver a compelling and persuasive presentation. In this interactive presentation, you’ll learn the following:
  • Understand elements of storytelling to inspire, motivate and influence your audience
  • Consider motivations of your audience, enlisting a variety of methods and tools to examine and strengthen your message
  • Analyze characters, context, tension, resolution and message components to ensure greater impact

WLiT will be giving away one scholarship to the Dale Carnegie High Impact Presentations Training , a two-day training event taking place in Edina May 14-15 or August 17-18. You must be present during the program to win.

Registration for this event will open soon.
