SBIR/STTR Economic Contribution Reports

Since 1982, Minnesota firms have been competitively awarded $717M in SBIR/STTR funding that has led to angel and venture capital investments, intellectual property (patents, trade secrets, etc.), high paying jobs, new products and services, IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, and more.

There have been several studies in the past to show the economic contribution of federal investments in startups and small businesses. Every two years, we engage the University of Minnesota to perform an economic contribution study to show the impact pf SBIR/STTR investments in Minnesota.

We will conduct another economic contribution study covering 1983-2019 awards.

In FY17, we analyzed the SBIR/STTR awards by Congressional District.  Additional reports will be available for FY 2018 and FY 2019 by December 2019.
