The Midwest Cleantech Open officially announced the 2014 Accelerator finalists, who will represent the Midwest region at the national Cleantech Open Global Forum next month. The 2014 winners named include Igor, 75F, SurClean, Neuvokas Corporation and Black Pine Engineering, hailing from an impressive group of 17 accelerator graduates of this year’s Midwest Cleantech Open Accelerator program.
The three regional finalists – 75F, Igor and SurClean – will go on to compete for $200,000 in investment and in-kind services at the Global Forum, held November 12th and 13th in San Francisco.
In addition to the region winners, Neuvokas Corporation received the sustainability award, an honor given to the company most effectively incorporating a triple-bottom-line approach to scaling its business. Black Pine Engineering took home the breakthrough technology award (an event first),and it was a big night for 75F as they also took home the Future360.tv People’s Choice award for best two-minute pitch.
“As we mark the fifth year of the Summit, we’re excited to welcome this year’s accelerator graduates to our list of accomplished alums,” said Justin Kaster, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Midwest Cleantech Open. “The event attracted such a wealth of experience this year, enabling incredible discussions about everything from financing and private-public partnerships to sector-specific shifts in areas like water, advanced manufacturing and computing technologies.”
The finalists were announced Tuesday evening at the Fifth Annual Midwest Innovation Summit in downtown Minneapolis. The two-day event convened over 400 regional innovators and influencers from across the Midwest business community, from investors and corporate managers to university officials and civic leaders.
The Summit also represented the culmination of the rigorous five-month Accelerator program. All Cleantech Open program graduates are invited to attend the Global Forum in November, offering entrepreneurs valuable connections to investors, partners and prospective customers as they scale their diverse cleantech businesses.
